"Hey Lee, sorry for the late reply.
It all started when we were working on a musical project back in 2002.
Basically we were looking for another mysterious twist to add to our music and the story in particular; we needed another element, another level in order to establish a certain group of people within that story to give them a unique identity.
We decided not to use some sort of fantasy language but a language we had some experience in - since we used to have Latin courses in school it was an obvious choice. Plus it allowed us to give some "hidden" meaning to those melodies as opposed to just plain gibberish.
This musical thing was a one-off project, but when we decided to form the band in 2004 we never even disussed whether we wanted to keep the Latin elements or not. It had become part of our identity and since people seemed to like it a lot we continue to use it to this day when it make sense or helps the respective song.
Now, if Krypteria was a sleaze rock or a jazz band we might cut the Latin parts out, but with the style of music we are doing I think it's a nice additional and elegant color.
Before you say it's all style / no substance let me add that on both BLOODANGEL'S CRY and MY FATAL KISS we primarily use the Latin parts to separate what the antagonists, the "masses" or the "opposition" say from the protagonist, that being Ji-In or the character Ji-In portrays.
So I guess we've come full circle since we originally implemented Latin in order to establish a separate group of people to our work; only back in 2002 these people were good, while nowadays it's more the bad guys singing in Latin ;)
Wow, that was a tricky one, I hope all of this makes some sense and helps you with your project ?
Best regards, Kusch"
